Leona Lewis cancelled a visit to Germany today (15.10.09) after being punched in the face by an attacker at a book signing.
The 24-year-old singer had been due to fly out to the European country for a two-day promotional event, but pulled out at the last minute as she is still in shock about the violent episode which took place in London yesterday (14.10.09).
In a statement, the shaken-up star said: "Thank you so much for your support, it is truly overwhelming.
"Yesterday was a horrible shock and left me extremely hurt and upset. I'm very sorry to those I wasn't able to meet at the signing. Thank you again for all of the lovely messages. Love you all."
The singer is due is due to perform a homecoming concert at the Hackney Empire, in the UK capital, on November 2.
Leona - who won UK TV talent show 'The X Factor' in 2006 - was signing copies of her new autobiography 'Dreams' when she was punched in the side of the head by her 6ft 5in attacker.
The man, who is not believed to be from the UK and is known only as Peter, reportedly queued for five hours to see the 'Bleeding Love' singer before striking her in the temple, telling her "I love you, Leona".
Fan Steve Caris said: "This bloke looked like a nutcase. He really walloped Leona. She must have been in agony."
Leona's mother Maria and boyfriend Lou Al-Chamaa accompanied her to the event, and Lou had to be physically restrained as he attempted to confront her attacker.
