China's quest for Miss Universe crown
Shanghai model Luo Zilin has won the Miss Universe China pageant and will compete in the finale in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on Sept 12.
Luo will soon go to the United States for a month's training before competing with contestants from more than 80 countries. She will become the first Chinese Miss Universe if she wins the finale.
Yue-sai Kan, a well-known TV presenter/producer and successful businesswoman, was national director of Miss Universe China in 2011, providing training for the 30 candidates, including Luo.
Shanghai clothing company D:espina sponsors the China pageant.
