Wu is an established actor, well-known to filmgoers on the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
Born in the United States to Chinese parents, he started learning martial arts at 11, founded the University of Oregon's wushu club in 1994 and served as the team's first coach.
He arrived in Hong Kong in 1997 after backpacking around Asia for two years. Having spent all his money, he took up modeling as a part-time job and was spotted by director Yonfan, who cast him as the lead actor in Bishonen (Japanese for "beautiful youth"), a well-received gay romance film.
Wu has portrayed diversified roles. He acts opposite Hollywood actor Kevin Spacey in his latest work, Inseparable.
