Yue Xiyou, a 29-year-old middle school teacher in Qujing, Yunnan province died on December 5, 15 days after he was beaten by employees of Huasheng Demolishing Company, people.com.cn reported on December 14.

Huasheng had been hired by a real estate company to demolish the offices of the Yunnan Diandong United Food Company, which it had recently bought. But Yunan Diandong United shared a wall with the house of Miss Li, Yue's fiancée, and when Huasheng came to demolish the wall on November 20, the Li family objected.

A Huasheng employee surnamed Yin then hit Li's mother with his fist, prompting Yue to intervene. Instead, Li's mother said, he was attacked by dozens of Huasheng employees. Fifteen days later, he was dead.
