Zunyi, in the northern part of Guizhou Province was the site of a pivotal meeting in 1935 during the Communist Party Long March.

Zunyi, in the northern part of Guizhou Province, 170 km north of its capital city Guiyang, was the site of a pivotal meeting in 1935 during the Communist Party famous Long March. Since then the Chinese revolution was pulled through and on the correct path. Zunyi Meeting Site is a north-facing two-storey building of brick-wood structure, which has been converted into a museum commemorating the Long March.

The Zunyi Meeting was an enlarged meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee held at Zunyi, Guizhou Province, in January 1935, during the Long March. It focused on discussing and rectifying the errors in military affairs. Owing to the wrong leadership of Wang Ming's "Left" adventurism, the Red Army sustained constantly great losses at the outset of the Long March, In this desperate moment, Mao Zedong advocated that the Red Army should change its original operations and march towards Guizhou Province taken by the weak-forced Kuomintang reactionaries. His proposal of a Peasant-led rather than a urban-based revolution first came to power.

The Zunyi Meeting organizationally ended the domination of Wang Ming's "Left" adventurism in the CPC Central Committee, established the correct leadership of the new Central Committee represented by Mao Zedong, thus saving the Red Army and the Party from destruction at a most critical juncture.It was also for the first time that the Communist Party of China applied independently the basic principles of Marxism-Leninism to the settlement of its own line and policy, saved the Party and the Red Army from the imminent danger. It was vital turning point in the history of the Party.
