Upcoming negotiations in Beijing will certainly be successful and produce
concrete results, Russian President Vladimir Putin told the Chinese news agency
Xinhua ahead of his visit to China.
"I am always glad to meet with President of the People's Republic of China Hu
Jintao and other Chinese leaders. I highly appreciate their warm attitude to
Russia and its people and strong commitment to advancing our cooperation," the
president said.
"For this reason, I expect the visit to produce new significant and specific
results that will help considerably strengthen the Russian-Chinese strategic
partnership. I have no doubts that the upcoming talks will be successful," the
said.
Russia and China have managed to resolve all major political issues,
including the border problem and "bring their trust to a qualitatively new
level," Putin said.
"From our standpoint, Russian-Chinese relations in all areas have the most
favorable prospects. We will continue to do our best to ensure their consistent
and gradual development. We will patiently tackle all issues and will not shun
difficulties," the president said.
"We in Russia highly appreciate our close relations with the People's
Republic of China, which is our true partner. Your country's obvious successes
in the economy, breakthroughs in science and education and your growing
reputation worldwide enjoy our sincere respect. We plan to [continue to] develop
comprehensive ties," Putin said. Russian-Chinese cooperation is not aimed
against third countries, he said. Rather, it helps resolve global problems, he
added. "Russian-Chinese strategic cooperation is transparent and is not aimed
against third countries. It actually contributes to the creation of a more
perfect world order," he said.
"Russian-Chinese cooperation is key to the efficiency of the international
community's efforts to avert threats to security and sustainable development
posed by international terrorism, the proliferation of weapons of mass
destruction, organized crime, drug trafficking, ecological degradation, poverty
and epidemics," Putin said.
