HK customs seizes military plane at container port (AP) Updated: 2006-04-05 09:29 Customs officials said Tuesday they seized a
military plane that was missing an engine and other parts at a Hong Kong
container port.
The dismantled aircraft was discovered Sunday, said Glenis Liong, a customs
spokeswoman who provide no further details.
Hong Kong's government-owned broadcaster RTHK reported that the plane was a
Russian Mig-29 fighter jet. The radio station didn't identify its sources.
The radio station also quoted Timothy Tong, customs commissioner, as saying
the "non-civil" plane didn't have any weapons.
Tong added that the preliminary investigation showed it wasn't involved in
terrorism or other crimes.
