The Chinese mainland on Tuesday invited a group of non-governmental organizations on Taiwan for talks on technical issues for the implementation of new preferential trade policies for the island.

Li Shuilin, of the Association of Economy and Trade Across the Taiwan Strait (AETATS), a non-governmental institution on the mainland, said it invited the Agriculture Association of Taiwan Provincial Farmers' Association and other organizations that specialize in agriculture, trade and shipping to discuss technical issues concerning the zero tariff measures offered by the mainland.

The mainland announced on April 15 its policies of zero tariffs on 11 varieties of vegetables produced in Taiwan, and zero tariffs on eight varieties of aquatic products with simpler quarantine measures.
