A 38-member economic and trade study group from Taiwan arrived in Chengdu, capital of southwestern Sichuan Province Tuesday night, unveiling its six-day trip of seeking business opportunities in the province.

The group, headed by Jeffrey L.S. Koo, chairman of the Taiwan-based Chinatrust Financial Holding Co.,Ltd. and Chiang Pin-kung, vice-chairman of the Chinese Kuomintang Party, would visit the high-tech development zone and a cross-Straits scientific and technological industry development park in Chengdu.

"It's the first for me and most of the group members to visit the western part of the mainland. Though we have not specific investment plans, we definitely has great interest in the region," said Jeffrey Koo.

The group came to Sichuan after its three-day visit to the neighboring municipality of Chongqing.
