Macao to launch China-S. Korea charity concert (Xinhua) Updated: 2006-05-12 18:48 Macao will stage a charity
concert on May 27 with a dozen of entertainment celebrities from China and South
Korea being present, organizers said Friday.
A press release issued by the hosting International Vaccine Institute (IVI)
said all donations from the concert are to be used for the development and
delivery of new vaccines among the world developing nations.
Park Eun-hye, starring in the recent Hong Kong-made movie hit Shinhwa (myth),
Jang Na-ra, another South Korean diva, Zhang Hanyun, a fresh face of the movie
industry in the Chinese mainland, and Lee Hacken, a Hong Kong pop star, will be
on stage of the concert, said the release.
The IVI is an international center of researching, training and technical
assistance for vaccines needed in developing countries.
The group, under the charge of the United Nations, is sponsoring programs in
21 nations and regions across Asia, Africa and Latin America, which could
hopefully help save 5 million children's lives from infectious diseases in a
single year.
