At least five people were killed and two others injured in two consecutive railway accidents in southwest China's Yunnan Province Tuesday, local officials said.

A train bumped a farmer to death who was trying to run across the track near a small village in Dali City at around 2:00 p.m. Tuesday.

Two hours later, another train rammed two of the villagers gathering at the site of the first accident to death as the farmers failed to shun away.

A villager died on the way to hospital and another died in hospital as emergency treatment failed.

Two injured farmers were receiving medical treatment.
