Threatening words land man in detention house (chinadaily.com.cn) Updated: 2006-07-21 13:55 "Give me a job and alms, otherwise I will blow the
bank up with 10 kilogram dynamite."
These words, in a called-in message to the mayor's hotline of Shijiazhuang,
capital of Hebei Province on July 19, landed the caller in a detention house.
Hearing the message, hotline operator informed the police, and the caller, surnamed Li, was soon tracked
down and detained. Police found no dynamite at his home or any bank, according
to Yanzhao Metropolis Daily.
Li used to work in a factory until he was sentenced 1 year in jail with a
2-year probation for theft. He landed no job ever since.
He called the mayor's hotline to ask for help by using undue influence in
April. Li was turned down again in job hunting and got drunk when he dialed the
mayor's hotline, and uttered those threatening words.
Li is now in custody.
