Cross-Strait trade tops US$50 billion

Indirect trade between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan hit more than 50 billion US Dollars in the first half of 2006, according to statistics released by China's Ministry of Commerce.

The Ministry says Taiwan has a trade surplus of 31 billion US Dollars.

Meanwhile, the mainland has signed more than 1,700 investment projects from Taiwan businesses, with a total value of 5.5 billion US Dollars.
