Elephant warnings go up at highway near reserve Updated: 2006-07-31 08:53
Special road signs have been put up along a newly opened highway near a
natural reserve in Yunnan to remind drivers to guard against running into wild
elephants that frequently cross the road.
Elephants from the State natural reserve in Xishuangbanna of Yunnan Province
have been known to have crossed the highway 11 times in the past three months,
experts said in their latest report.
Last month, an elephant even collided with a buggy.
