HK Chief Executive solicits views on 2nd policy address (Xinhua) Updated: 2006-08-08 11:35 HONG KONG -- Hong Kong Chief
Executive Donald Tsang has started the month-long consultation for his second
policy address, hoping to reflect Hong Kong people's views and serve their
interests, according to a government press release issued here on Monday.
Tsang met representatives of the professional sector and Liberal Party on
Monday and said there will be more than 30 such consultation sessions in the
coming month.
"There is bound to be a variety of views. Even if people agree on the policy
objectives, they might have different ideas about how policies should be
implemented. I welcome that.
I encourage everyone to express their opinions during the consultation
period. I am looking forward to working with various sectors to achieve
effective governance," Tsang said.
"When I begin to put pen to paper on the policy address, I will consider
each and every view given to me during this consultation." In the final analysis,
the address is to reflect the views of Hong Kong people and to serve
their interests. Like my last policy address, I will take a pragmatic approach to
set policy objectives and implement them as best as I can during my term,"
said Tsang.
