The quadruplets had been kept in incubators for 40 days before they were able to come home. The mother, 43-year-old Tan Chaoyun, and her husband, surnamed Jiang, were taken aback when they learned they would be the parents of four babies. "Luckily, there are no conjoined twins," Jiang said.
The four babies brought the family both joy and worry. They have nearly turned their 40-square-metre rented home at Shiyan in Shenzhen, into a nursery. The parents invited two people from their hometown to help and gave each baby a unique hairstyle to tell them apart.
Although hard-up couple worried about the cost of raising the children, they refuse to put them up for adoption. "Now that they made the appointment to come into the world together, we don't have the heart to separate them," the father said.
