Shanxi has been famous for its old brand names, among which Donghu Lake Old
Mixture Vinegar of more than 600-year history, stands in the first group.
Chinese Brand Promotion tour came to Shanxi Donghu Lake Mixture Vinegar Group
and saw the process of vinegar brewing on August 12, 2006.
Shanxi Mixture Vinegar Group President Guo Junlu, with nickname "vinegar
manager", briefly introduced the history of the enterprise and the old brand
name.

Donghu Lake Mixture Vinegar has developed from "Mei He Ju", a vinegar
workshop founded in Shanxi Qingyuan county in 1368. "Donghu Lake" was registered
as a vinegar trademark in 1956 and has been still in use till now. There are
mainly five stages in vinegar production including braising, fermenting,
fumigating, filtering, and preserving.
The visitors then went to the vinegar-producing plants and had a taste of
beverage produced by vinegar.
Guo said in China, Donghu Lake vinegar is the best, and its quality and taste
is not inferior to that of Europe."
Though choked by the flavor pervaded around the vinegar-producing plants,
visitors showed great interested in each procedure like selection of raw
material, fermentation, and preservation while asking some questions on Donghu
Lake Mixture Vinegar towards the "vinegar manager".
Now, the Donghu Lake vinegar industry has started to develop 63 new species
like health vinegar, vinegar and spicy vinegar gifts, and ginger vinegar. To
promote the culture of Shanxi Old Mixture Vinegar, the "Donghu Lake Vinegar
Park" was established and identified as a first national vinegar industry
tourism attraction.
