Woman eats 17 buns, wins award

Korean-American woman Sonya Thomas won the title of Miss Appetite of Asia after winning a special food eating competition in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region on Tuesday.

Thomas beat all her male rivals after she ate a total of 17 big steamed stuffed buns within 12 minutes in the final. Each steamed stuffed bun weighed 165 grams.

Johnny Wu, a local man, came second. Wu ate only six buns during the competition.

All the top five participants of the competition, except Thomas, were men.
