Man attacked by bear, isn't paid

A farmer was attacked by a huge black bear on a hillside in Hegang of Heilongjiang Province. Badly hurt on the head, he barely escaped with his life.

He asked for compensation from local forestry authorities last week, but was denied.

Under China's laws, he should have been compensated by local government as the bear was under State protection. But, such compensation has not yet been given as expected in most areas because of the lax enforcement of laws.
