Man falls down, gets 'occupational injury' (China Daily) Updated: 2006-09-06 08:44
A young man surnamed Zhang fell down in his company's canteen during his
lunch break late last week and broke his thighbones, which the Nanhui District
Subdivision of the Shanghai Labour and Social Security Bureau regarded as an
occupational injury.
However, the company sued the Nanhui District Subdivision at the District
Court, disagreeing with the opinion of the bureau.
The company thought that since Zhang hurt himself during the lunch break, not
at work, the injury cannot be treated as an occupational injury.
The court ignored the company's appeal.
