Kungfu needed to use new giant fans

Two 0.66-metre-long folding fans, each weighing 20.08 kilograms, were completed late last week in Chengdu of Sichuan Province to challenge the Guinness World Record.

It has taken about a month for three skilful craftsmen to make the huge fans with silk and ferroalloy. It is only possible for those knowing Chinese kungfu to use such heavy fans and set a new world record, experts say.

While one of the fans will be kept in Sichuan for collection, the other is expected to be sent to Beijing as a gift for the 2008 Olympics Games.
