The Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region public security authority has set a special goal for at least 40 per cent of its grassroots police bureaux and stations to be equipped with police dogs by the end of 2008.

The decision was made at a work conference on police dogs held in the city of Liuzhou on Monday. Police dogs have contributed to the cracking of several big criminal cases in the region since the beginning of the year.
