Chinese Kuomintang (KMT) Honorary Chairman Lien Chan arrived at Meilan Airport in the capital of Hainan Province on Monday.

Lien is heading a KMT delegation to attend a cross-Strait agricultural cooperation forum to be held at Boao in the southernmost island province of China on Tuesday.

In a speech delivered at the airport, Lien called for efforts to promote mutual development in agriculture on both sides, saying the forum will boost development.

In regard to the Cross-Strait Economic and Trade Forum held in Beijing in April, Lien said the 15 new beneficial policies announced at the forum include seven specific and effective agriculture cooperation initiatives.

The policies make it possible for more Taiwan fruit and aquatic products to be sold on the mainland.

Other passengers on Lien's charter flight included nearly 200 Taiwan party officials, agricultural business people, representatives of farmers' organizations as well as experts and scholars.
