China has "found a development model that fits itself well", said Cai Wu, minister of the Chinese central government's information office, in a breakfast address in Ottawa, Canada on Monday.

The model is China's keeping sticking to peaceful development, building a harmonious society at home while propelling a harmonious world abroad, Cai said.

The minister admitted that quite a few difficult problems have emerged in the course of China's rapid economic growth, including deteriorating environment, unbalanced urban and rural development, and rising income gaps between the haves and have-nots.

"China has a long way to go" to eradicate the discrepancies, he said.

Cai said that he was confident that China will succeed in achieving common prosperity and realizing a harmonious society.

He also suggested that Chinese people have belief in values like science, democracy, freedom, human rights and harmony, that are shared by people world wide.

The minister said that Sino-Canadian relations of friendship and cooperation are beneficial to the interests of the two countries, and conducive to peace in the Asia-Pacific region.
