Traffic was at a standstill in the busy area in Foshan's Gaoming District on Tuesday when a circus troupe from outside the city led a 2-metre-tall camel on patrol in the streets.

The incident started at 9 am, when the circus troupe led the camel along the busy strip to promote its circus performances during rush hour.

Many curious pedestrians and vehicles stopped to watch, causing a heavy traffic jam in the busy area.

Traffic returned to normal more than an hour later, when police arrived on the scene and took away the camel and the circus troupe.
