The first Artificial Beauty Contest of Guangdong Province has drawn more than 100 female contestants, all of whom have had cosmetic surgery to enhance their looks.

Most of the women are from the major cities of the Pearl River Delta, which borders Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions.

The women will vie for a cash prize of 10,000 yuan (US$1,277) in the final, to be held on February 8 in Foshan's Shunde District. The winner will also be appointed envoy to the Oriental Women's Hospital, one of the organizers of the event.
