Hong Kong police arrested four Peruvian men on Sunday after they stole a mainland businessman's bag at a hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui.

The four, aged between 26 and 59, stole the bag, which contained over HK$2,000 in cash and a portable media player, by swiftly replacing it with an empty one at the start of an X-ray scanner conveyer belt as the owner walked to the other end to retrieve it.

The man was unaware that his bag had been snatched. But undercover police had the hotel under surveillance, as many businesspeople attending the ongoing ITU Telecom World 2006 event were staying there.
