The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) launched the eighth edition of its Internet Report here on Wednesday, hailing the coming of "the Thumb Generation."

The report, titled "digital.life," reveals a radical changing society in which digital technologies have been vital to the distribution of knowledge and information.

The report was drafted by a team of analysts from ITU's Strategy and Policy Unit (SPU), covering chapters on "going digital," lifestyle, business, identity and living in the digital world.

The report was launched on the sidelines of the ongoing ITU Telecom World 2006 show, which was slated from Dec. 4 to 8, gathering some 600 exhibitors and thousands of experts and professionals in the telecommunication sector.
