Macao's Commission Against Corruption (CAC) issued a press release here on
Friday, briefing on the details of the corruption case involving a former
high-profile government official.

The release said Ao Man Long, former Secretary for Transport and Public
Works, and 11 other suspects including a number of the official's relatives,
have been apprehended Wednesday.
Those have been detained included the owner, general manager and chief
accountant of a local construction company, which have been conducting a number
of major construction projects, said the release.
It added that the suspects were allegedly involved in cases of bribery, bribe
taking and money laundering.
It said the CAC launched a 150-hour investigation on Ao over the past week
based on a tip-off, accusing him of taking bribe through power abusing.
After analyzing a number of financial documents, the CAC conducted searches
in some suspicious business, residence and public office sites, said the
release, adding that cash, estate contracts and other evidence has been obtained
during the searches.
It said the suspects have allegedly used overseas financial systems and
companies to launder their illegal income.
Hong Kong's Independent Commission Against Corruption has jointed efforts in
the investigations, said the release.
It said more details will possibly be revealed in the near future.
