A Macao resident is missing, presumed drowned, after being thrown overboard along with four others when their small boat foundered off the coast of Zhuhai in rough weather last Saturday.

Four of the men were picked up by a passing ship, but they lost Leung, in his 30s.

Maritime patrol boats from Zhuhai failed to find the man after hours of searching on Saturday and further efforts on Sunday.

Authorities issued a reminder of the danger of going out to sea in bad weather.
