A 10-year-old boy turned up at school on Monday having been missing for the weekend after he was falsely accused of stealing.

The boy attends afternoon classes at a school in the Western District of Hong Kong Island and has an above average academic record.

One of his classmates discovered his pocket money was missing last Saturday and accused the boy of stealing it.

A teacher questioned him about the matter and intended to talk to his parents afterwards. Fearing punishment, the boy disappeared.

His mother reported him missing.

But the boy had gone to a friend's home, telling them his parents were out of town for the weekend and he needed somewhere to stay.
