The man was seen throwing bread into his neighbor's courtyard one afternoon in October. The dog died within hours after eating the bread. Tests showed the bread was contaminated with pesticide.

The man told the court on Tuesday that he did not know the bread was poisonous. He found the moldy bread in a garbage can, he said, and wanted to make the dog ill because it barked all day and night.
