Salt roasted chicken, a well-known Hakka dish in Meizhou, Guangdong, is selling well in Hong Kong also.

The dish features tender meat that not only tastes good but also is said to have a tonic effect. These days Meizhou residents prefer to process the chickens for sales in Hong Kong rather than eat them themselves. A total of 940 cases of salt roasted chicken were sold to Hong Kong on January 30, earning local residents more than HK$240,000 ($30,700).

Sales are expected to keep rising as Spring Festival approaches.
