Judge goes easy on man but suggests divorce(China Daily)Updated: 2007-02-07 09:26 A judge in Hong Kong advised a man who had attacked his wife during an argument to consider getting a divorce. The charge against the man, a 39-year-old mechanic, was wife-beating. He went after her with a pair of scissors and a folding chair after she had thrown two apples at him. Tuen Mun Principal Magistrate Kwok Wai-kin heard testimony that the couple often argued about money and that the wife had hit the husband before. Because the husband showed genuine regret and the wife wasn't seriously injured, Kwok showed him leniency, but said if the marriage is causing more stress than he can handle, a divorce is probably better for all concerned.
