Standard Chartered Bank in Hong Kong will give male workers a five-day maternity leave each time their wives have a baby. Also, employees who adopt children aged under 3 can enjoy a similar paid holiday.

Population policy expert Yip Siu-fei praised the gesture, saying that many companies in the West give paid leaves to help employees welcome new members to the family.

The bank, with a good reputation for its family-friendly environment, also gave 2,000 dolls to the male workers last week to remind them to spend time with their families.
