As the lunar new year draws near, part-time tourist guides have become much sought after in the prosperous city of Foshan, Guangdong.

Many local travel agencies have been hiring part-time tourist guides one or two months in advance. Most of these guides are local university students, teachers and even insurance sales representatives.

Travel agencies have estimated that more than 2 million local residents will leave the city for sightseeing during the lunar holiday that will begin on February 18.

Most travel agencies have been fully booked.
