A 71-year-old Hong Kong man is in critical condition at a Hong Kong hospital after he stood in front of his wife to protect her from a speeding van.

The pedestrians were crossing a road in Tsuen Wan on Wednesday morning. Describing the accident later, the wife, who is partially blind, said she heard her husband shouting: "My goodness! My goodness!" before they were hit. The wife, who said she felt being pushed, suffered only an injured elbow.
