Six mild earthquakes frequent eastern Taiwan

Six mild earthquakes frequented eastern Taiwan this morning, with the strongest measured around 4.4 Richter scale, Taiwan's local media reported.

Among the six earthquakes, the epicenter of five were around the Taitung's Chenggong seismic station and all were measured above four Richter scale, the local media reported.

The strongest, measured around 4.4 Richter scale, occurred at 2:23am, with its epicenter located at 4.7 kilometers northwest of Taitung's Chenggong seismic station and with a depth of 19.4 kilometers, according to Xinhua news agency.

Only one of the six occurred at Hualien, the local media reported, saying it was measured at 3.8 Richter scale, with epicenter located at 10.1 kilometers south of Hualien's Yuli seismic station.

Taiwan's meteorological authority promised to keep a close watch on the following development since the earthquakes are so frequent, the local media reported.
