Macao's airport sees rise in flight movements

The commercial flight movements at the Macao International Airport (MIA) totaled 11,862 in the first quarter, seeing a year-on-year rise of 5 percent, according to official statistics issued Friday.

Figures from the government-run Statistics and Census Service showed that the Chinese mainland and China's Taiwan were the major destinations of the commercial flights handled by the MIA in the quarter.

Total weight of outward cargo handled at the MIA fell by 18 percent year-on-year to 16,652 tons in the first quarter, the figures showed.

The Chinese mainland, China's Taiwan and Luxembourg were the major destinations of the outward cargo handling, according to the statistics.
