Visitor arrivals surge during holidays in Macao

MACAO -- Macao recorded nearly 590,000 visitor arrivals during the Labor Day "Golden Week" holidays, which lasted from May 1 to 7, seeing a year-on-year growth of 29 percent, according to official statistics issued Tuesday.

The figures from the Macao Government Tourist Office showed that some 60 percent of the "Golden Week" visitors held the Chinese mainland travel documents.

Meanwhile, the average occupancy rate of three-to-five-star hotels stood at 83.9 percent during the period, a year-on-year increase of 6.27 percent, according to the statistics.

During the "Golden Week", total hotel room supply reached 13, 258, the figures showed.
