China's special representative for Darfur Liu Guijin arrived in Khartoum on Friday evening to continue consultations with the Sudanese side on the latest developments in the western Sudanese region of Darfur.

Well-informed sources told Xinhua that the Chinese diplomat is to hold talks Saturday morning with Sudanese President Omer al- Bashir on the efforts exerted by the Sudanese government and other parties concerned to solve the Darfur issue.

Sudan is the last stop of Liu's African tour, which has taken him to South Africa, Ethiopia and Egypt.

It is Liu's second visit to Sudan since he was appointed as the Chinese special envoy for Darfur in May.
