A Shanghai man made 59 deposits with 1-yuan coins to vent his anger at his bank's policies on Monday.

The man, whose name was not disclosed, visited the bank to pay the money owed on his wife's credit card. The bank staff refused his request to know the sum owed since according to regulations only the person holding the account can learn the account balance with his or her ID card.

The man was so irritated that he repeatedly changed banknotes to 1-yuan coins and deposited them one by one in payment. His 59 deposits occupied the teller for one hour.

Banking staff finally persuaded him to pay off the remaining 550-yuan ($72) at one time.
