At least 12 people were killed and 11 injured after a head-on collision involving a bus and a tanker on Friday in Northeast China's Jilin Province.

"A bus crashed into the front of a truck and caught fire at 9 am on a section of the road in Meihekou City," said the provincial work safety supervision administration.

The injured have been taken to hospital. The number of passengers that were on board the bus is still unknown.
