Water level at flooded coal mine falls sharply

Rescuers put a pipe in place to pump water from flooded shafts at Huayuan Coal Mine in East China's Shandong Province on August 21, 2007. By 7:00 am Tuesday, the water level at the mine where 172 miners have been trapped since Friday had fallen by 23.6 meters to 69 meters. [Xinhua]
