MACAO - The Macao police have nabbed three suspects for casino loan-sharking charges, local media reported Thursday.

The Macao Post Daily quoted police sources as saying that the police Wednesday captured the trio at a local restaurant following receiving a tip-off.

The three suspects had earlier offered a mainland gambler loans worth 80,000 patacas (US$10,000) and demanded "a commission" of 10 percent, the sources told the newspaper.

The suspects have been transferred to the Public Prosecution for further investigations and possible arraignment, the sources were cited as saying.

Loan sharking has long been a common crime in Macao, a world famous casino gaming hut.
