The Memorial Museum of Chinese People's Anti-Japanese War has received more than 90,000 visitors over the last two months when China commemorated the victory over Japanese invaders, up 74 percent from the same period of last year, according to a museum official.

Meanwhile, more than 2,000 people visited the memorial museum on Monday, the Victory Day of Anti-Japanese War.

The museum is expected an attendance surge on September 18 when the Japanese army began its assault on China and seized three northeast provinces in 1931.

The official said the museum held a series of activities in July and August to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the outbreak of China's War of Resistance against Japan (1937-1945) on July 7 and the Victory Day on August 15 when Japan announced its surrender to the world.

The museum simulated the wartime scenarios by displaying the information of Japanese war criminals, oil paintings and sculptures via exhibits, slide shows and video and audio records.

Statistics showed the museum this year has received more than 200,000 visitors.

The Japanese army in China formally surrendered to the Chinese government on September 3, 1945. The day was appointed the national commemoration day of victory over the Japanese invaders.
