A burglar in Shanghai who broke into an empty apartment and lived there for five days has been sentenced to six months in prison for illegal trespass.

The man, surnamed Yang, took 15 yuan ($2) and a small TV set valued at 20 yuan, in the July burglary. Yang, however, decided to stay in the apartment, ate all the food in the refrigerator and ran up a huge phone bill. The owner returned to his apartment and caught Wang sleeping soundly, then called the police.
