Co-produced by China, Britain, France and Germany and sung in Chinese, the opera had been performed for 18 times in Paris in just two days. This opera is based on the classical Chinese tale Xi You Ji by Wu Cheng'en. This magical work tells the story of one of Chinese literature's favorite characters, the Monkey King, who rebels against the sky and proclaims himself the great sage, with the same status as Buddha.
