Report on Constitutional Development of HKSAR positive

Members of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) said that the report on the Constitutional Development of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) by the HKSAR Chief Executive is positive, responsible and pragmatic.

Panel discussions were held on Monday during the legislative session of the NPC Standing Committee on the Report by the Chief Executive of the HKSAR to the Standing Committee of the NPC on the Public Consultation on Constitutional Development, and on whether there is a need to amend the methods for selecting the Chief Executive of the HKSAR and for forming the Legislative Council of the HKSAR in 2012.

Members of the NPC Standing Committee held that the report, submitted by the Chief Executive of the HKSAR Donald Tsang, was formed according to the Basic Law and relevant interpretations by the NPC Standing Committee and based on views and suggestions collected from all walks of Hong Kong society.

They said the report comprehensively and objectively showed all kinds of opinions and appeals on the Constitutional Development from Hong Kong society. The report is positive, responsible and pragmatic.
