BEIJING - Mainland and Taiwan air carriers made 94 two-way flights during the recent Spring Festival season to transport Taiwan business people home for the traditional Chinese Lunar New Year, which fell on February 7 this year.

The cross-strait flights were made on February 2 to February 6 and on February 11 to February 15 by 12 carriers from the two sides, six each, according to a General Administration of Civil Aviation of China (CAAC) spokesman.

In total, 31,442 passengers and 28,893 pieces of luggage were transported by the flights.

This was the fifth time the two sides had reached and implemented an agreement on the issue. For years, the mainland made hard efforts to promote direct trade, transport and postal services across the Taiwan Strait.
